In astrology, the word “cusp” refers to a point that either separates two consecutive signs from each other in the zodiac or two consecutive houses in the horoscope. In other words, the cusp defines where one Sun Sign ends and the next one begins.
When most people hear the expression born on the cusp, they interpret it to mean that the person embodies characteristics from both Sun signs. In other words, the individual is betwixt and between and can’t really lay claim to either sign. Sounds like quite an identity crisis, but is it true? Is there really such a thing as a cusp personality?
In a word: No.
Think about it. If there was in fact such a thing as blended cusp energies, then it would have to be true for every planet.
Seriously, when was the last time you heard of an astrologer saying, “Well, if you were born on a day when the Moon (or Mercury or any other member of the planetary gang) changed signs from Virgo to Libra, emotionally speaking, you’re a blend of Virgo and Libra traits.”
Never, that’s when.
Cusp astrology is junk astrology.
You see, while cusp individuals may in fact express characteristics of the two Sun signs, it is not because they were born on the cusp. Rather, it is because some of their “personal” planets (e.g., Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars) or their Ascendant are in their Sun’s neighboring sign.
Make no mistake about it: If you were born on the cusp of two signs, you are either 29 degrees of one Sun sign or 0 degrees of the next one. So if your Sun sign really is just “one sign or the other,” then which sign are you if you were born on the cusp?
Well, that depends on the exact day and year you were born because the dates of the cusps that separate the Sun signs aren’t always consistent. For example, one year a Sun sign might begin on the 21st of the month but in the next year it may begin on the 22nd.
This inconsistency is caused by the fact that although it takes the Sun 365 days, 4 hours, 35 minutes and 12 seconds to make a complete rotation through all 12 of the zodiac signs, we use a 365-day calendar to measure to our years. Consequently, every four years we correct this variance with a leap year.
For those of you who are born near a cusp date, you need to check the position of the Sun on the day and year you were in order to determine whether your Sun 29 degrees of one sign or 0 degrees of the other.

Once you know your Sun’s exact position in the zodiac, you can take your rightful place in the zodiac.
Isn't it true that if the Sun is @ 29 degrees it is at a critical point because it's trying to finish the lessons before the energy changes to the next sign? Then @ 0 degrees the person needs a bit of time to adjust to the new energy. Kind of like breaking in a new pair of shoes..
By the time any planet reaches 29 degrees, it is "saturated" in the sign, and yes, at 0 degrees it's a new lesson/experience for the individual but my belief is there is no blending of traits from the prior Sun sign. When you hit 0 degrees in this lifetime, you've graduated to a new karmic course of study.
I'm at o degrees. Born February 18 1980 also a leap year
