Transiting Venus in Taurus
While in Aries, Venus enjoyed instant gratification, but after several weeks of romantic conquests and impulsive purchases, it was time to sit down and pay the bills so packed her retail therapy into her new suitcase and glided into Taurus.
Like Mercury, the planetary ruler of Gemini and Virgo, Venus wears two hats in the zodiac. As the ruler of Libra, she holds sway over the 7th house of marriage and committed relationships, but as the ruler of Taurus, she presides over the 2nd house of income, tangible possessions and values. Venus is the original material girl, and that’s why she’s right at home in the practical, productive and money-conscious sign of the Bull.
In Taurus, Venus takes inventory, settles outstanding accounts, establishes budgets and develops investment strategies. Likewise, we would do well during this time to follow her lead and assess our financial health. No matter where we are financially, it’s never too late to take steps to reduce our debt and/or build up our nest egg.
While immersed in the sign that rules possessions, Venus is inspired to acquire. While it’s true that the Bull can be frugal, Venus will gladly spend money on high quality clothing, jewelry, accessories and furnishings. A practical hedonist, Venus in Taurus is tempted by massages, aromatherapy, facials and other soothing, sensory delights. While her craving for physical sensations may or may not lead her to someone’s bedroom, it will probably lead her to some of the finest restaurants.
Although her reputation for accumulating material assets is well deserved, accusations that she’s a gold-digger are unfair. Taurus is a productive and financially self-sufficient sign, and while Venus is here she’s not looking for a free ride. However, she’s not looking to give any either. She’ll willingly reach into her own pocket and pick up a few checks, but she expects her partner to do the same. In short, Venus in Taurus wants a partner who won’t drain her finances. Even better, she wants one who enjoys wealth building as much as she does.
When it comes to love, Venus in Taurus is in it for the long haul. Her cautious nature can make her a bit slow to commit, but once she does she’s steadfast. She’ll be there during the good times and more so during bad ones. She’ll support you, defend you and love you from here to eternity… unless you betray her.
In Taurus, Venus has a long fuse and an abundance of patience, but if you deceive her, it’s game over. When it comes to being vindictive and holding grudges, Venus in Taurus can give Venus a Scorpio a run for her money, but it’s more likely that she’ll delete you from her life as if you never existed. Eventually, she may forgive you, but you’ll never be friends. Once you’ve crossed that line, there are no second chances. She won’t risk her heart a second time.
Still, no matter how hurt or angry Venus in Taurus may feel at times, she’ll never give up on love. Whether it’s just around the corner or years away, she has the patience to wait for it. As the ruler of self-esteem, she knows she deserves better, and as the goddess of love, she knows love will find her.
As the second house ruler, Taurus presides over our values. Whether it’s possessions or relationships, Venus in Taurus values quality over quantity and has no interest in phonies of any kind. While Venus is here, it’s a good time to consider what’s meaningful to us. Who and what do we hold most dear? What do we feel we deserve, and are we ready to receive it?
Like Venus, we should insist upon the very best.
