Each year, the September equinox marks the exact moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator from north to south.
In doing so, it declares the arrival of autumn in the northern hemisphere and the beginning of spring in the southern one.
It also marks the Libra ingress. For those of us in the northern hemisphere, and especially those who experience four distinct seasons, autumn is a time of reflection and transition as summer fades and winter beckons. For our southern neighbors, spring heralds a time of birth.
Although the September equinox coincides with different physical seasons depending on where one lives in the world, it brings the same metaphysical season to everyone no matter which hemisphere we call home.
Each year as the Sun enters Libra, it reminds us of the need for peace, calm and balance in our lives.
