A few nights ago, I decided to make some hard-boiled eggs, so I placed two eggs in a pot of water on the stove top. After I turned on the flame, I checked the news on my phone, and an article about a celebrity caught my attention that made me think, “I’ve got to look at this horoscope.”
I had just turned on the gas, so I hurried into my office and pulled up the chart with the intention of taking a quick peek but quickly become engrossed in it.
A while later, I heard a loud “POP” followed by the immediate sound of something hitting the floor. It sounded like it came from the kitchen, but I had absolutely no idea what could have caused it.
I walked into the kitchen and there was my pup Valentino sniffing a piece of eggshell that was on the floor.
I had totally forgotten about the eggs on the stove.
After turning off the gas (and thanking God that I wasn’t cooking something that could have burst into flames), my immediate thought was:
“What was I thinking? How could I be so distracted that I forgot I had something cooking on the stove?”
The answer was also immediate: I have Mercury in Sagittarius.
While it may sound tongue in cheek, astrologically speaking the answer has merit because Mercury rules the mind, which includes one’s curiosity, attention span and memory.
Mercury Lessons
Although Mercury is known for its intellect, curiosity and communication skills, it can be easily distracted and has a well-deserved reputation for being absent minded. When it’s in Sagittarius, a restless sign that rules expansion and higher knowledge, its curiosity is increased along with its tendency to be scatterbrained.
On the upside, Mercury in Sagittarius gives me a sense of humor and the ability to laugh at myself, so I posted the photo on Instagram with the hashtag #mercuryinsagittarius.
In fairness, being born with Mercury in Sagittarius isn’t all that bad. Yes, it’s in it detriment and is considered to be a weak, and yes, it suffers from occasional bouts of verbal diarrhea, but it’s also an eternal student that has talent for teaching, writing, speaking and law.
Personally speaking, except for a few tortured eggs and a scorched pot that will never look the same no matter how hard I scrub it, Mercury in Sagittarius has been quite fortunate for me.
However, I’m going to refrain from going on about that because it would sound like I was bragging which, along with a tendency for interrupting, is one of the less flattering Mercury in Sagittarius traits!
