Oh my. The solar eclipse at 11 degrees Scorpio this past November landed directly on the composite Jupiter in the composite seventh house (the marriage), which means that the April 29 solar eclipse at 9 Taurus fell in the composite first house and opposed (confronted) Jupiter in the seventh house. Eclipses often precipitate significant, and often sudden, changes, so a change in marital circumstances is a likely scenario given the eclipse activity to the axis of relationships, as well as in light of the planetary activity to their individual charts.
Still, what was the death knell that finally brought this 18-year marriage to an end?
My money says it was the grand cardinal cross at 13 degrees landed exactly on their composite chart’s axis of relationships (the first and seventh houses).
To be more specific, Uranus (separation) in Aries (the self) landed on the composite Ascendant while Mars (assertion) in Libra (relationship) fell the composite descendant (the union). In and of itself, a Mars-Uranus opposition is a highly charged and often combative energy.
However, when you consider that both planets squared (challenged) the fourth (home) and tenth (personal status) composite houses, and that this energy was intensified by Pluto and expanded by Jupiter, I think it’s safe to say that at some point during April, all hell broke loose in the Griffith-Banderas household.
Consider also that while Melanie and Antonio were experiencing challenges to their Sun at the end of 2013 and early 2014, transiting Pluto in their composite tenth house was starting a transformational six-month transit that was focused on their marriage.
Suffice to say: Mission accomplished.
Looking ahead, the lunar eclipse on October 8 at 15 degrees of Aries (the self) and conjunct Uranus (separation) will land on the composite descendant (their union). Just a few weeks later, the solar eclipse on October 23 at 0 degrees in the sign of Scorpio (birth, death, regeneration) will fall on their composite Neptune in their composite seventh house. That said, it seems that while October may bring them an ending, it may also delivert the promise of a new beginning.
